Grandma Smith's Crochet - "Patty" pillowcase lace

ch-3 picot = ch 3, sl st into 1st ch at base of ch-3

R1: ch 7, turn
R2: 1 dc in 7th ch from hook (last ch), ch 3, turn
R3: 3 dc in lp, ch 2, 1 tr in top of ch-4 (note: this occurs at the end of every row where a stitch is being worked into the chain at the end of the row below... along the chain, count 4 chain stitches up from the base of the chain and insert the hook there and work the tr; this 4th ch is called the “top of ch-4”), ch 6, turn
R4: 3 dc in lp, 1 dc in dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, 1 dc, ch 5, turn
R5: sk 2 ch, 1 dc in dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, 3 dc in lp, ch 2, 1 tr, ch 6, turn
R6: 3 dc in lp, 1 dc in 1st dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 ch, 1 dc in dc, ch 2, sk 2 ch, 1 dc in top of ch-3 (as above, you are counting 3 ch's up from the base of the chain made on the previous row), ch 5, turn

When finished, edge with the following (this can be in a different color): * in next sp (3 dc, 1 ch-3 picot), repeat from * along edge; at outside corners, work 3 dc, 1 ch-3 picot, 3 dc; at inside corners, work 2 dc in sp before corner, 1 dc in corner, 2 dc in sp after corner, then ch-3 picot.
